Alcohol The Wonder Drug

(Friday 5 September 2014) by Rick Clot
I set out last Saturday to drive around town, pick up customers, deliver them safe and sound to their destination and engage in a little bit of lively conversation along the way. My first ride of the night came just minutes after I left the house. It was a young man and when I finally dropped him off at his destination, I called Sandy and said, "You're not going to believe this one." This guy calls from a bar in my home town, he's 23 and drunk as a skunk. I asked him where he wanted to go and he told me the BROOKLYN Bar and Grill. I told him I wasn't familiar with that establishment and he said he'd give me directions. I told him I lived in the area and had never heard of the place but he said not to worry, he'd direct me as it was only about a 1/2 mile down the road. Then he starts into this drunken tirade of non stop verbiage that I had to interrupt after driving three miles and still not knowing where the hell I was going. After asking him exactly where this place was, he then decided to check his smart phone. Moments later he apologetically admitted it was actually the BROOKSIDE Bar and Grill not BROOKLYN. So I turned around and drove back to where we started and dropped him off. The irony of it all was that he could've walked there and saved himself an $11.00 ride. Oh the wonders of alcohol.

Until Next Time,
Still Drivin'
