America, Ever Gentle on my Mind

(Wednesday 27 January 2016) by Rick Clot
It seems like I've been spending an inordinate amount of time lately on You Tube looking at videos of truck campers. Why? I have no idea but the thought of traveling around the country in a truck camper simply fascinates me. The thought of being able to stand in one spot and have everything, stove, sink, microwave and fridge right at your fingertips is something that could interest me. I think. Unfortunately, traveling in a truck camper is more conducive for one than with two people and I don't think I'd ever be able to talk San into it. After all, it has a lot less space than the RV we had a few years ago. I think I'm getting a glimpse of my alter personality here. Maybe I was a hobo in a previous life flipping freight trains around the country and living on makeshift meals wherever I could find them.
"I dip my cup of soup back from a gurgling, crackling cauldron in some train yard
My beard a roughened coal pile and a dirty hat pulled low across my face
Through cupped hands round a tin can I pretend to hold you to my breast and find
That you're wavin' from the backroads by the rivers of my memory
Ever smiling, ever gentle on my mind."
Gentle on my Mind. Thank you Glen Campbell.

Until Next Time,
Dreaming in Surprise,
