Another 10 Minute Job

(Tuesday 30 August 2016) by Rick Clot
I have a couple of items I would like to report on today. First of all, plans must have fallen through with my ex coworker who I mentioned in my last post who called to tell me he was trying to start up his own shuttle service business and wanted to know if I'd be interested in working for him. I have not heard from him in a couple of weeks so I presume he ran into some snags and probably decided to scrap the idea. At the same time plans have changed with another friend of mine who was running his own personal shuttle service and wanted to do more traveling but was being held back by the business. He wanted to turn his customers over to me and buy a motorhome but those plans went south on him. So here I sit in a state of limbo not knowing if I should start looking around for a part time job on my own or wait to see if anything pans out with the aforementioned opportunities. My second item and totally unrelated to the first involves my vacuum cleaner. While trying to vacuum the carpeting last Saturday I discovered the belt that drives the beater brush was broken. Not only that but it appeared that something had chewed through the electric cord down to the bare wires. I repaired the cord which was not a major project but finding a replacement belt was a totally different story. It's hard to get any replacement parts unless you have the model and serial numbers of the vacuum cleaner which I couldn't find. I looked over every square inch of that unit with no success. Finally I found a little sticker with the info on the bottom of the unit of all places. The person who put it there must have been sadistic. I had to get down on the floor with a flashlight and a magnifying glass just to read it. I found the belt at Walmart for $3.88 but spent two days and $42 in gas looking for it. Why does this always happen to me?

Until Next Time,
One adventure after another,
