San Antonio Day #1

(Wednesday 16 May 2018) by Rick Clot
Left Surprise, AZ. for a one week trip to San Antonio, TX on Monday May 7th for a reunion of my Vietnam Army group. Rolled out of Surprise under sunny skies and temperatures in the 80's at our 8:30AM departure time. Had a Hertz rental car because I didn't feel like putting a couple thousand more miles on the family car. I requested a Toyota Camry but they upgraded us into a Chevy Equinox SUV. I thought the signs were pointing to a bummer of a vacation when I took a rock in the windshield just outside of Phoenix on our way to Casa Grande that only left a small ding that was very hard to see. When I turned the car back in at the end of the week I filled it with gas but left all the bugs on the windshield as a camouflage. I haven't heard anything yet from the rental agency. Day #1 sailed right along uneventfully under warm, sunny skies as we motored in to the Fairfield Inn in El Paso, TX. Checked in and then grabbed a bite to eat at the local Applebee's. The hotel was nice but the indoor pool was dirty and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in five years. Breakfast the next morning was extremely generic. Nothing special. Powdered scrambled eggs that were watery and some sort of mystery meat they were trying to pass off as sausage patties. Like I said, nothing special

Until Next Time,
Smooth sailing so far,
